Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM For Nexus 4. Download & Install

Here you are going to learn how to download and install Android 5.0 Lollipop on Nexus 4. For quite a long time, Nexus 4 users have been enjoying Android KitKat features. The release of Android Lollipop brought completely a new Android version with a new user interface called as material design. The architecture of the system is also changed with more optimizations and features.

Even though Android lollipop is not released officially to every Nexus devices, some of them has received a developer preview and some other custom ROMs. Google has released the source code for a couple of devices and developers use it to develop the first ROMs based on Android Lollipop.

One of the first devices receiving a Lollipop ROM was Nexus 4. Developers were able to create a ROM, somehow stable for the Nexus 4. They used the final Nexus 6 system dump LRX21M. Requirements

  • Check your phone battery and make sure to charge it at least 60%. If not the phone may result to shut down unexpectedly and you may end up with a soft bricked device.
  • Your Google Nexus 4 must have root access. There are a plethora of guides and tools available to help you obtain root access.
  • Install a custom recovery such as TWRP. Ensure to get the latest build because it works better and has touchscreen support.

Guide

  • Download the ROM from here and place it anywhere on your phone internal memory.
  • Turn off your phone and boot into Recovery Mode. Press and hold at the same time Volume Down + Power button. The phone will enter bootloader mode and from there select Recovery Mode.
  • Wipe System Cache and Data. If you skip this step the phone will be stuck on boot screen.
  • Once you are in Recovery Mode, go to the install section and flash the ROM zip file you downloaded from the link above.
  • Wait for the ROM to finish and then reboot the device.

The first boot can take a while, usually longer than normal, around 10 minutes. There is nothing to worry. Just sit back and relax and give it time to boot normally because Lollipop is optimizing the applications to run on ART runtime system.
