How To Disable Chrome Showing Tabs In Overview On Android 5.0 Lollipop

Android 5.0 Lollipop brings plethora of features, one of them allow apps to show each instance in overview. This new feature is called Recents. We hadn’t seen something like this in previous Android versions. It’s totally a new feature which is supposed to make user interface simple.

So if you have an open email in Gmail, it will show you that mail plus Gmail in overview. In Google Chrome browser each tab is a separate app in overview. For lot of people this seems to be annoying because when you reboot your Android device the “Recent Apps” don’t disappear.

  • On your Lollipop device open Google Chrome.
  • Tap on the Action Overflow menu.
  • Tap on Settings.
  • Tap “Merge tabs and apps”
  • Slide the slider and turn off.
