We have seen a lot of devices receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM. At first we see the ROM to be ported to high-end flagship devices. After the ROM was ported to almost all flagship level devices, developers begin to port the ROM even for non-flagship devices. Samsung Galaxy S3 mini was the first device which received the materialised version of Android.
Besides the Galaxy S3 mini, another non-flagship devices has been added to Lollipop fray: the Sony Xperia L. The AOSP port was made by a recognized XDA Developer and Contributor called varun.chitre15. Android. The ROM is stable enough for initial build but for some bugs it has, it can’t be consider yet a daily driver ROM.
There are some issues with RIL and general connectivity, which are obviously quite vital in a smartphone. All the rest work perfect, so it’s awesome to see such progress in an alpha release. You must have an unlocked device in order to flash the AOSP ROM. The file archive isn’t a flashable file so you have to configure fastboot properly. You can find instructions to unlock the device in the official Sony page. Sony Xperia L is a device which has its own source already released by Sony and developers used it to build a Lollipop ROM for Xperia L.
Note: You will void your warranty if you decided to go in the end off this procedure. I am not responsible for bricked devices, or dead SD Cards or thermonuclear war. Please do a little research if you have any concerns about flashing a ROM and the features included in this ROM, before flashing it.
