Here is a simple guide which will show you how to disable Retail Mode on Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge. Retail Mode is a software designed for demo units of Android devices which are for sale. It shows all the features of the phone in a short video. This way it make it easier for the customer to learn about new features of the smartphone that he is planing to buy.
Retail Mode is also helpful for the seller because he don’t have to show all the features of the phone to the customers manually. As I previously say Retail Mode app is designed for the demo units which will show the customers all the features of the device. The software is great for stores but for normal users it can be annoying.
The phone will automatically activate Retail Mode if it is not used for a while. This is not a good thing for you as a user because the phone screen will stay always on and showing the same video many times. Normally devices with Demo Live Unit Retail Mode aren’t made for shopping. But sometimes unfortunately users get a device with Retail Mode activated.
So I wrote this guide to help you to deactivate Retail Mode on the Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge. Follow all the steps below and in a few minutes you will have a brand new Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge with Retail Mode disabled.
How To Turn Off Demo Live Unit Retail Mode On Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
- Take the phone at your hand and go to App Drawer.
- Scroll through your apps and find Samsung Retail Mode app
Please Note: Do not confuse it with RetailMode app.
- Find and open Samsung Retail Mode app.
- Tap on Configuration Settings.
- A new window will appear. Enter the password 5444 and click OK.
- The Admin Menu will be unlocked.
- Now turn off “disable the factory data reset”.
- Enter the password M729Q16K8546 and then click OK.
- You will be prompted to Factory Reset the phone.
- This is the final step to disable Retail Mode on Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
After the Factory Reset of the phone anything will be deleted. This mean all your personal files, data and installed apps will be deleted. Your Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge will be like new. If the above method doesn’t work you need to install a stock firmware. You can install the Galaxy S6 official Lollipop Touchwiz without the retail mode. If you have never flashed a firmware, tell me and I can help you to do that.

There is no stock firmware for demo units yet,but I found how to disable mine,don’t follow his steps as it will still run the demo,but u need those passwords and go to the apps.there are 2 apps,one is retail mode and one is Samsung retail.don’t go where he said,which is Samsung retail mode to do factory reset,it doesn’t work,just go to retailmode app,it opens,click OK then password 5444 turn off service the password there is M729Q16K8546 ,all letters in capital,leave me a response if urs worked
Doesnt work for me. Handset still displays “Samsung Retail Mode” as Service Running in notification screen which you cant get rid of. I tried disabling both apps with the password but after a time all the customization you do the phone will still revert back to reset. The only thing it doesn’t do is run the Demo. This is the most strangest thing I have come accross as the Factory reset you do by holding VOL UP + LOCK + HOME BUTTON during a restart and wiping it that way has always worked… Very bizzaro

hey this happened to me too, the only way to remove it is if you entered your google account. if so you can go on google and type my devices on the search box. click the first site and it will promp you the possibility to track, ring and erase the phone memory.

This doesn’t work for me.
1) Retail mode can’t be disabled. There is Samsung Retail Mode in the apps drawer, but there is no Configuration Settings. All I got is Store Settings, but again, none password worked. Also, apart from this “Samsung Retail Mode” there is no apps named ” retail mode “.
2) Can’t wipe data, nor factory reset. User data can’t be wiped by any means, not even Odin. It seems its locked by MDM ( Mobile Device Management).
So buyer’s be aware: there is big chance there the S6 Edge demo unite you want to buy can never be freed by the way mentioned in this article. I suspect this article is intended to misled for the interest of the owners of these demo unit owner.
The article isn’t intentionally misleading. There are two versions of demo content. The instructions on this website work for the more common retail demo mode, but not for the other.

You guys all got phone with retail demo mode cause you bought stolen phones. The next unfortunate part for future buyers of these types of devices, carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile are implementing a plan to post all the imeis of the stolen demo devices on the national black list, time frame is November. Here is a small solution that worked for me
Go to storage of device and browse the folder retail mode and in videos folder delete the live demo video screensaver video now the demo doesn’t start atomically.
