Something that every Android user should do is to get root access. Some people have a misconception about root. They’re afraid of rooting your phone, but honestly the benefits of root are great. In this guide we will write how to root and install TWRP Custom Recovery on Huawei Honor 8.

- Charge your phone up to 60% so it won’t turn off during the process of rooting and installing the recovery.

How to Root and install TWRP Custom Recovery on Huawei Honor 8
Install TWRP on Honor 8
Take your phone and go to Settings >Developer Options > USB Debugging and enable them. If you can’t find Developer Options under Settings than you may need to activate it. Navigate to About Phone and tap 7 (seven) times on Build Number. You will get a message: “You are now a developer“.
Download TWRP Recovery from the link above and put it on your phone internal memory. Rename it to Recovery.img
Now go to the installation directory of ADB. Press and hold Shift button and then right-click. On the window that will open click on open command window here. Get your phone and connect to computer using an original USB cable. Then type the following code:

adb reboot bootloader
Your device will boot into fastboot mode. Now you will need to check if your phone is properly connected to PC. You can do this simply by entering a command line into the command prompt window. Type this:

fastboot devices
Now look at the command prompt window. If it shows the serial number of your phone it means that it is properly connected. If this command is not responding than you will need to check the driver again.
Once your Honor 8 is properly connected to PC, type the following code:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
It will flash TWRP Recovery on Honor 8. Wait for it and then type:

fastboot reboot.
It will reboot your device. In this way you have installed TWRP Recovery on Huawei Honor 8. Now it’s time to root the device and you can do it by following the steps below.
How to root Huawei Honor 8
To root Honor 8 you will need SuperSU. Download it from the Download section above and move somewhere on your phone internal or external memory.
Turn off your phone and boot it into Recovery. To do this press and hold Volume Down + Power Button.
Once your phone boots into recovery, navigate to the install section and select ‘SuperSU’. Swipe to confirm selection and it will flash SuperSU on your device.
In this way you will root Honor 8. Reboot your device and if you go to app drawer you will notice SuperSU installed. To verify root access you can go to Play Store and install Root Checker.
