CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0 Lollipop on HTC Sensation (Download & Install)

Download and install CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0 Lollipop on the HTC Sensation phone. HTC Sensation even though has lower specs compared with the other phones released from other manufacturers, it is one of the most supported devices from developers.

It has received almost all Android updates via Custom ROMs. From Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean through Viper S, Android 4.4.4 KitKat via CyanogenMod 11 and recently Android 5.0 Lollipop CyanogenMod 12.  HTC Sensation received a build of CM 12 Android 5.0 Lollipop while better devices are still waiting for developers to release something.

CyanogenMod 12 for HTC Sensation was not a stable ROM but the developers said that the bugs will be fixed in the next updates. Anyhow, you can test this ROM to get a feeling of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The kernel in this ROM is updated to the latest version hence it supports USB on the go. You can transfer data and connect devices using OTG feature. The OTA center is also installed so your device will receive the new updates with bug fixes soon.

Getting things prepared

• Your device must be rooted and a Custom Recovery must be installed so if you don’t have a rooted and a Custom Recovery installed, do some research. There are a lot of guides around the internet.
• This ROM is only for HTC Sensation and not for other devices so don’t try it in other devices.
• The battery should be more than 70% charged so your phone will not go dead during the procedure, something that might cause soft bricking.
• Just to be safe do a backup. The procedure is tested and it works fine but things could happen. So if anything goes wrong you will have access to your files and data.

Note: This method is about flashing rooting your device, flashing Custom ROMs and Recoveries and it may cause phone bricking. Do it with your own responsibility and if anything goes wrong don’t complain that it was my fault. You decided to mess up with your device by your own responsibility.

How To Install Android 5.0 CyanogenMod 12 on HTC Sensation

How to flash the boot.img

1. Make sure that fastboot & ADB are properly installed on your PC.
2. Download CM 12 Android 5.0 Lollipop.
3. Once downloaded extract the zip file and in Kernel folder is a file called boot.img
4. Copy and Paste it into Fastboot Folder.
5. Turn off your phone and open bootloader and fastboot mode by pressing and holding Volume down + Power key.
6. In fastboot folder open Command Prompt. Hold Shift and right-click anywhere on the Fastboot folder.
7. Once Command Prompt is open, type the following command fastboot flash boot boot.img and press Enter.
8. Then type the following command fastboot reboot.

How to install CyanogenMod 12

• Connect your device to PC.
• Copy the above zip file to the root of your SDcard

Open Recovery Mode. In Fastboot Mode open Command Prompt and type adb reboot bootloader. From Bootloader choose recovery.

Into the Recovery

• Backup your ROM using Recovery.
• After Backup is complete go back to the main screen.
• Navigate to advance and choose Dalvik Wipe Cache, so you won’t have any boot loop.
• Finally, select Wipe Data and Factory Reset.
• Select Choose zip from SD card from options
• Select the CM12.zip and confirm installation.
• Go back and flash GoogleApps.zip
• Once the installation finish select Go Back.
• Select Reboot Now.
