A new Android Lollipop update is already released with many improvements and bug fixes. I am talking about Lollipop 5.1 which already landed on a few devices. It comes with many improvements in both user interface and system options.
Android 5.1 comes with a few changes of UI. Some parts of Material Design has already changed to bring us a best way to navigate through our devices. Google has improved not only the Material Design UI but also the system and now Android 5.1 supports multi-SIM devices.
Unfortunately only few devices have received an official update of Android 5.1 Lollipop. While other devices are still waiting for the update, developers have already updated their Custom ROMs. The major Custom ROMs for Android like CyanogenMod and Omni ROM are already updated to Android 5.1.
So if you want to enjoy the latest update on your phone the best way is to install a Custom ROM. What better than CyanogenMod team can bring the latest updates directly on your phone. They have updated the ROM and the latest build CyanogenMod 12.1 contains all the features of Lollipop 5.1.
If you decided to install CyanogenMod 12.1 or any other ROM based on stock Android besides the ROM file you have to flash also Google apps known as Gapps. They are compressed into a zip package ready to install in Recovery.
Google apps or Gapps are a must when you install a ROM based on stock because besides Google apps, the package contains also Google Framework. It is needed for apps like YouTube, Gmail, Hangouts, Maps and other Google apps to work correctly.
