How to remove Carrier Boot Animation on Galaxy S4
First of all, you will need to download the new boot animation file. If you want the original Samsung Boot Animation, download it here. Go to /system/media and save the files somewhere else just in case you want to revert back.
- Download the BootAnimation zip file. Since it’s a zip file, extract it.
- Copy the files from the folder to /system/media. Replace the old files.
The files you have to copy are named like this:
- bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg
shutdown.qmg
From the BootAnimation zip file copy these files:
- PowerOn.ogg
PowerOff.ogg
Copy them to /system/media/audio/ui by replacing the original files. Make sure you backup the old files.
Don’t forget to set the right permissions. If you rename the originals to .bak or something like this, they will be under it basically rw-r–r– on all files.
Alternately, if you do not want to download, you can make a copy of, and rename the bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg and shutdown.qmg that are already located in your system/media folder, and PowerOn.ogg it is already located in your system/media\audio\ui folder.
To disable sound go to: system/media/audio/ui and search for PowerOn.ogg and PowerOff.ogg. Just rename it to PowerOn.ogg.backup and PowerOff.ogg.backup (or any other extension). Well done!
Reboot the phone and the carrier boot animation will be removed, and the sound as well if you decide to disable it.
You can also install a custom Boot Animation. Below you will find some of them that have been tested and work fine.
- LiquidHavoc Boot Animation: Download here.
- Android Urinating Apple Animations: Download here.
- Crystal Machine boot animation: Download here.
- Reverse Scribble shutdown animation: Download here.
- QMG Animations: Download here.
Before downloading the Custom Boot Animations take a look at the original thread here. You will see the Boot Animation pictures as well.
