If you are a Galaxy user and you know few things about Android, probably you may have heard also that Latest Samsung devices comes KNOX. It is a security feature that acording to Samsung it will protect the customers.
If you are an Android enthusiast and you like to play with your device, propably you may want to root it, but it will tripp the KNOX value from 0x0 to 0x1 so you will lose your warranty. No one would like to lose the warranty so it’s needed a way to root Samsung devices without tripping KNOX. This is possible thanks to an amaizing tool name towelroot, but unfortunately it does not support all the kernels. So you can’t root your phone if it is updated recently.
The same thing happens to Galaxy S5 also. It is updated to Lollipop and unfortunately we can’t root it with towelroot without tripping KNOX. But if you want to have root acces on your Galaxy S5 running Android 5.0 Lollipop, you have to downgrade it to KitKat and than flash a rooted Lollipop stock ROM. Below you are going to find all the guides you need to dowgrade your Samsung Galaxy S5 to KitKat and then to root it without tripping KNOX and finally to install a rooted stock Lollipop ROM.
This rooting guide is tested only on Samsung Galaxy devices with the model number G900F, G900I, G900FD, G900M. Theoretically it should work on every version of Galaxy S5 but we haven’t tested. So if you want to go further do it at your own risk and don’t put the finger on me if anything goes wrong.
Note: Always test the tar.md5 files before flashing with ODIN. If any of the files is corrupted you will result in soft bricking and you may not want that. It requires a lot of work to bring your phone back to life again. Here is an awesome tool to help you check ODIN flashable files.
