Nexus 4 is probably the most successful device of Google Manufacture. Since in the beginning it has a bit strange history. When it was announced it has a LTE 4G feature built in. Unluckily Google never approved its usage on the device.
Unfortunately for Google LTE is not anymore a feature but a issue that need to be fixed, so the Giant of Technology decided to disable it through Radio Updates, starting with Android 4.2.1.
For Nexus 4 users it was like a bomb. In fact disabling this feature result to be a total waste of this awesome device. XDA Developers starting to work to bring this feature back on phone. Soon a XDA Senior Member morrislee created hybrid images which combines the new radio with the last with LTE Modem enabled. This hybrid modem collection is available to flash using the dedicated application.
We have seen Nexus 4 receiving an update of Android 5.0 Lollipop just few days. This update also didn’t enable LTE Modem. Another XDA Developer beerbaronstatic created a hybrid of the latest Lollipop radio with the oldest one with LTE enabled. Running Android 5.0 Lollipop and with a LTE connection Google Nexus 4 will be more powerful than ever.
